Outokumpu has introduced corrosion resistance duplex stainless steel reinforcing bars into the Indian market for the first time. The stainless steel reinforced bars will be used in concrete structures, especially in the costal areas, ports, airports, bridges, high-rise buildings and water treatment plants. Stainless steel reinforcing bars do not corrode for over 120 years thus reducing the ongoing repair and maintenance costs of structures like bridges, high-rise buildings and highways. More over stainless steel can readily be used with conventional carbon steel reinforcement in concrete without causing galvanic effects. The other benefits of stainless steel reinforcement include significant increase in durability and reduction in repair and maintenance costs, elimination of concrete sealants and reduction in thickness of the concrete cover. |
