China Iron Ore Conference 2007
  Time:2007-3-6  15:05:47    Source:MB    Author:Maggie[Size:B M S][Favorite][Close]

China World Hotel
Beijing, China
23-25 April, 2007

The global iron ore market is now aligned towards supplying China’s breathtaking growth in steel production. Despite increases in iron ore production and future capacity, the market remains tight with benchmark prices expected to continue to rise in the 2006/7 iron ore negotiations.

 It is predicted that we are heading toward a decisive period. The market will be finely balanced to the point of turning. How long can China’s growth in steel production continue? Will the iron ore market be left in oversupply?

How will China’s plans for a more consolidated steel industry affect its purchasing power for raw material?  The three majors still dominate seaborne iron ore trade but exciting opportunities with juniors continue to surface in the supply market.

India remains the wild card in forecasting the seaborne iron ore market. How is this country likely to control its exports of iron ore as it deals with an ever increasing growth in its domestic steel industry?  Also, rising Chinese iron ore production, coupled with the capacity of the shipping industry could all factor in the direction the market moves over the next few years.

Metal Bulletin’s China Iron Ore 2007 draws from our unique resource of international journalists, consultants and event producers to design a programme with the most relevant, interesting speakers tackling the paramount industry challenges. Each year we gather international delegations of top level decision makers from the leading companies in the steel industry.

Key reasons to attend;

  • Analyse global trade flows and whether Chinese exports will grow enough to disturb the existing trade balance.
  • Discuss the introduction of steel futures and how they might affect the volatility of the steel market
  • Examine India ’s future role in the global steel market, will its potential materialise?
  • Gain added value downstream, uncover developments in the Far Eastern automotive and shipbuilding industries
  • Understand the steel shipping market,  seaborne capacity and the volatility of freight rates
